The Governing Body

The school’s governing body sets the framework which determines how the headteacher and staff run the school. The headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day management and the governing body for strategic decisions. The governing body is there as a critical friend to support and challenge the school to ensure that it achieves its vision. The governing body can be accountable to parents, the wider community, the local authority and the diocese.

The school joined The Bath and Mendip Partnership Trust (TBMPT) on 1st August 2017 with the school’s local governing body answerable to the trustees of TBMPT. At Marksbury we comprise representatives from the parent, teacher, church and wider communities. We have an expectation of excellence and continuous improvement. We work very closely with the staff to ensure that our finances, premises, curriculum and strategic direction are effectively managed, giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential and to deliver this we have a team of governors each with a different role and responsibility. Vacancies occur from time to time, therefore If you would like to join the governors please contact the clerk on governorsclerk@marksburyschool.org.uk to express your interest.
